Turners, New Zealand's largest seller of used cars, trucks & machinery gathered at the picturesque lakeside Villa Maria Estate winery. With less than 3 hours teams were challenged to build a life size Formula 1 racing car from a flat pack kit. Using a specially designed flat out cardboard kit, instructions, tools and axles each team collaborated to design a strategy that would enable them to work together involving all team members to quickly, accurately and effectively construct the car within the allotted time.
Once each team had successfully constructed the car they set about to decorate their vehicles with branding. They then allocated roles and responsibilities - drivers, pushes and the like! The cars were at the starting line, participants dressed in racing garb, the chequered flag flew and teams raced their cars along a 120 metre dash to the finish admit cheers and squeals of delight!
Teams gathered under the finish arch and reflected on what had been an amazing team effort to transform a pile of cardboard into a replica of a F1 car.
